The short version

Once a month I interview an expert for about an hour. Out of that conversation come three LinkedIn posts a week, in their words, and they approve every one.

I work with seven clients at a time, most of them independent regulatory, medtech and technical advisors whose engagements run $15k to $30k and up. They are excellent at the work and unknown to the people who need them. I came to this from music.

Twenty years writing to picture.

About 200 credits since 2003: feature films, documentaries, theatre, video games, and commercials and image films for Siemens, BMW, Audi, Porsche Design and Lindt. I still publish production music, and it still earns royalties.

“Make it sound more blue.”

That was a real brief from an advertising client. Most briefs were like it: the client knew exactly what they wanted and had no words for it, so the job was asking questions until the thing they meant came out, and only then writing music.

An expert’s judgment has the same problem. Ask them to write a post and you get a textbook. Ask the right question and let them talk for an hour and you get the story only they could tell. That hour is the whole method.

Then an agency. Then the engine.

  1. 01

    Marketing agency

After music I ran a marketing agency and did integrations work, building the systems behind other companies’ marketing.

  2. 02

    FDA Blueprint

David Pudwill spent nine years inside the FDA. In 90 days he went from 21,800 LinkedIn impressions to 393,677, and from 3 or 4 qualified calls a month to 12 to 16. No ads. The case study.

  3. 03

    Contour

What worked for David became The Authority Engine, run by Contour LLC for seven clients at a time. How the method works.
